After a career in the investment management industry, Rick Kilbride joined the faculty at the University of New Hampshire in 2014. He is currently a Senior Lecturer, teaching a variety of upper-level undergraduate finance courses, including The Finance of Corporate Social Responsibility & ESG Investing, Financial Scandals Crises & Upheavals, Investment Analysis, Financial Policy, and Mortgage Banking & Fixed Income. He has also taught Economics at the MBA level. He served on a task force integrating ethics across the business school curriculum and on another developing Business in Practice experiential learning modules. 

As a financial economist, Rick spent 40 years on "Wall Street" in various investment management and client facing roles. He is a proven general manager, product developer, and portfolio manager with a focus on developing and refining client solutions, with an emphasis on producing investment performance and communicating market and economic insights. He was a Managing Director (and later Senior Advisor) at Roosevelt Investment Group, a Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income at ING Furman Selz and, prior to that, a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in New York and London. As a portfolio manager, he produced outstanding returns across fixed income investment mandates in investment grade, high yield, and leveraged loans.

Rick’s economic and market commentary has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Blue Chip Economics. He has been a consultant or advisor to the Central Banks of Russia, Argentina, Italy, and South Africa, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Arab Monetary Authority, the African Development Bank, and numerous domestic and global firms.

Additionally, Rick is a Principal at Peconic Investors, which is a springboard for small business start-ups, providing capital and strategic advice. Most of these projects relate to job development in rural Maine. 

He has been a Consultant at National Executive Service Corps. In this volunteer role, he worked with not-for-profits in the education and healthcare fields on governance, shared resources, and board-level strategic implementation. 

Rick has summitted the 48 peaks of the New Hampshire 4000 footers and has sailed over 40,000 ocean miles. He and his wife spend a lot of time and energy in Kenya working with a Maasai village, facilitating their self-determination, and assisting in their economic development. Rick has also been a volunteer EMT in his local community. 

Rick holds a B.A. from Colorado College and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.  He has also taught at Skidmore College and Colorado College.
