Path to Paul is a one semester (fall only) pre-business program for academically promising students who don't meet the minimum academic requirements for direct admission to a Paul College of Business and Economics major. Entering first-year prospective students who apply to Paul College and are not eligible for direct admit will automatically be considered on a space available basis. To be eligible, you must have a minimum 3.2 high school GPA.
Once enrolled as a pre-business major, you will take 5 courses in math, economics, and two discovery courses, as well as enroll in the Freshman Academic Experience—what we call FIRE! Upon successful completion of this first semester with a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA you can officially declare a Paul College major.
Program Format
- Major: As a Path to Paul student you will enter as a pre-business major.
- Length: One semester, 17 credits. Upon successful completion, you can officially declare a Paul College major.
- GPA: You must earn a 2.3 cumulative GPA by the end of their first semester.
- Coursework: Pre-business students must complete and pass
- MATH 417: Precalculus for Business and Life Sciences or MATH 422: Math for Business Applications
- ECON 401: Principles of Macroeconomics or ECON 402: Principles of Microeconomics (with a C- or better)
- PAUL 405: Freshman Academic Experience (FIRE)
- Two UNH Discovery/General Education Requirements
- Advisor: As a Path to Paul students you will be assigned a professional academic advisor in Paul College and required to check in at least twice a semester. Your advisor will help you transition into Paul College.
- Programming: Path to Paul students can participate in specific programming with other Path to Paul students in their cohort. This can include, but is not limited to:
- Bootcamps for math and/or economics to help prepare for coursework
- Guided study sessions with faculty or teaching assistants
