Professor Earle’s research interests are anchored in a long-standing curiosity in how innovations move from initial invention to marketable products, services, and business models; and how this process affects and informs the strategies of participating organizations. For empirical contexts, he focuses on innovations in chemistry, energy, and other technology-driven fields. His most recent research examines extra-organizational levels of analysis including, networks, ecosystems, and communities. Professor Earle has published his research in leading management journals including Research Policy, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Business Ethics, and Administrative Science Quarterly, and he was named a Fulbright Scholar to Denmark in 2022-2023.

In addition to pursuing his research program, Professor Earle has held numerous leadership positions including Chair of UNH’s Holloway Prize entrepreneurship competition, Co-PI of UNH’s NSF I-Corps site, Faculty Fellow for Corporate Innovation & cofounder of UNH ECenter's Corporate Innovation Co-Op, founding advisor to the UNH Entrepreneurship Club, Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research Faculty Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Research, and membership on both for-profit and nonprofit boards.
