The capstone project is one of the cornerstones of experiential learning. For many students, this is the first opportunity to transform foundational knowledge into occupational skills.

Traditionally, these projects were acquired through personal connections and media outreach. One of the earliest discussions about doing something different to acquire projects led to the idea of Capstone Fair. The event was organized at the Center for Business Analytics and the setup reflected close to a job fair. Companies from education, recreation, technology, marketing, government and business services industries were represented and students from Analytics, Economics and Finance programs participated.

Graduate students watch a company pitch a capstone project

Students listened to businesses pitch projects and future opportunities. Representatives from companies networked with faculty, students and other businesses. The event lasted for more than two hours with companies expressing their support behind similar initiatives and students excited about future prospects.

The capstone fair wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support from leadership, career services team, faculty and staff from multiple disciplines, and countless businesses . We hope to share bigger news on a bigger stage next year!
