Mike Merenda will be retiring at the end of this year, after a 42 year career as an award winning researcher and educator. He first came to UNH in the fall of 1978. That same year, “Grease” was released, “Space Invaders” was created, and Kobe Bryant was born. But all of these events pale in comparison to the impact that Mike has had on UNH, WSBE/PCBE, his students and his colleagues.

Over the course of his career Mike has authored over 30 published academic journal articles, 2 textbooks and 14 book chapters. He has served as the Chair and Co-Chair of the Holloway Competition from 1991-2016, served as both Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the College, Director of our Executive MBA Program, Chair of the Management Department for over 15 years and Chair of the Marketing Department for 3 years. He has taught at every level of the College from the ADMN 400 introduction to business class for freshman to the capstone course for the Executive MBA program. He has been the recipient of the Dean’s Outstanding Service Award, the WSBE Teaching Excellence Award, and multiple awards from the North American Case Research Association. He has also been nominated by his peers for the UNH Brierly Award for Teaching Excellence and the UNH Distinguished Professor Award.

Perhaps more importantly, over the past 42 years Mike has been an incredibly dedicated and supportive senior colleague and mentor for faculty across multiple departments across the College and the University. He has consistently served as a calm and calming presence in faculty meetings, in the Executive Committee and across the College. We hope that soon he is able to enjoy some much-deserved free time, and we will miss him greatly. [Tuck Pescosolido, Management Department Chair].
