Spring Semester Door Decorating

Why are we decorating doors in the spring?

The time between the start of spring semester and spring break can be a dreary time for our students. The weather can be harsh and cold, making the first part of this semester seem tough.  Research done by our college diversity committee's subcommittee on holiday celebrations has informed us that the students really enjoy seeing the doors we have decorated in the past for our door decorating contest.

That's why, in lieu of a contest, the Staff Advisory Committee is encouraging faculty and staff to decorate office and suite doors with cheerful winter or spring decor to help make our students feel more excited this time of year.

When are we decorating?

In short, whenever works best for you and your schedule. Decorating can be up to welcome the students back from winter break, and we encourage you to leave the decor up until the students leave for spring break.

I want to participate, but don't know what to put on my door.

Get creative and use your imagination to decide how to decorate your suite or office door! If you need help coming up with an idea or two, Pinterest is a great resource for this. Here are some links that also might be helpful:

In addition, there are some crafty faculty and staff in Paul College who could be a great resource--ask a colleague for help with ideas and execution! This is not a contest, so feel free to help out your office neighbor. What matters is that our students appreciate the effort we are making.
