Please extend a warm welcome to the following faculty joining us in 2023:

Gonzalo Basante, Assistant Professor, joins the department of Economics from the University of California, Davis, where he completed his PhD in Economics. His research interests include macroeconomics, finance, firm dynamics, and macro development, and in his job market paper he developed a framework to study the severity of financial constraints of young firms in countries of different levels of development.

Hanna Lee, Assistant Professor, joins the Department of Hospitality Management from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she served as a Research Assistant Professor. She completed her PhD in Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2020 at Kyung Hee University. Hanna’s research interests include business analytics in hospitality and tourism destination (organization and community resilience), big data analytics and AI applications, and social media mobility analysis in hospitality and tourism marketing.

James Ragland, Lecturer, joined the department of Accounting and Finance in January 2023, after adjunct teaching in fall 2022. Prior to joining Paul College, he served as a Debt Asset Manager for USNH and Tax Manager for Ragland Investment Group, as well as other leadership roles in accounting and finance. James teaches principles of accounting courses and will be coordinating the PwC challenge for first- and second-year students this fall.

Yifei Wang, Assistant Professor, joins the department of Decision Sciences from the University of Maryland, where she earned her Ph.D. in Information Systems. Her research interests include gender and race diversity in IT-enabled professional and creative domains (such as digital music), human capital management in the online labor market, and the behavioral impact of social media platforms.

Wei Wei, Assistant Professor, joins the department of Decision Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she earned her PhD in Operations Management, focusing on resource allocation in subsidy welfare programs. Her research interests include socially responsible operations, nonprofit operations, sustainable operations, and public policy.

Bingjin (Ben) Xue, Assistant Professor, joins the department of Economics from Lehigh University, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Ph.D. in Business and Economics. His research fields include health economics, applied econometrics, demographic economics, and behavioral economics, and he has studied topics such as the impact of switching electronic health record developers on specialty referrals.
