Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management Hanna Lee recently had a study published in the Annals of Tourism Research.
The study, titled "Spatial Coopetition and Peer-to-Peer Accommodation Price," provides insights into the pricing dynamics of peer-to-peer accommodations in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Lee and her co-authors applied spatial analytical techniques to 2,090 Airbnb properties, uncovering three distinct clusters of pricing strategies: cooperation-dominant, competition-dominant, and balanced coopetition. By examining factors like market commonality, resource similarity, and supply commonality, the study offers practical guidance to rental platforms, hosts, and policymakers on how to shape pricing strategies in line with tourism demand, supply, and resources.
