Jeffrey Sohl, professor of entrepreneurship and decision sciences at Paul College, was recently featured in an article by USA Today/Seacoastonline discussing Vice President Kamala Harris' new small business plan.

The article, titled "Would Kamala Harris' Small Business Plan Work? NH Economists are Optimistic,” highlighted key perspectives from New Hampshire’s academic and business leaders.

In the piece, Sohl offered insights on Harris' proposal to increase the tax deduction for small business startup expenses from $5,000 to $50,000. While he acknowledged that cash grants or tax credits would provide more immediate impact, Sohl noted that the proposed tax deduction would still serve as a meaningful incentive for entrepreneurship.

Sohl also commented on New Hampshire’s entrepreneurial culture, linking it to the state’s “live free or die” motto, which fosters independence and innovation. According to Sohl, the Harris plan has the potential to encourage business growth in rural areas, supporting the state’s already vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.
