Welcome Shayna Sylvia to Paul College! Shayna works for Paul as the marketing and events specialist, within the Communications Department.
Shayna is a UNH alum, with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. After graduating in 2012, she returned to her hometown of Rochester, MA before feeling the innate pull of NH’s seacoast. Fun fact: Shayna ended up at UNH because she fell in love with NH from family summer trips to North Conway. After being home for six months, Shayna moved back to NH in November upon accepting an internship in communications at Strafford Regional Planning Commission (SRPC). Over the last ten years at SRPC, Shayna built out the organization’s public facing persona through communications, outreach and design, and assisted with planning and chairing committees focused on sustainable commuting and local tourism.
From working at SRPC, Shayna discovered a passion for design and earned a digital design and animation certificate from Great Bay in 2017. As a graphic and web designer, Shayna takes on contract work including a current role providing UI/UX design for a start-up.
Outside of work, Shayna enjoys all the Seacoast has to offer including kayaking and beach volleyball in the summer, trail walks in the spring and fall, and ice skating in the winter. She also serves on the Dover Community Trail advisory committee, and is a huge Dover-ite, who is always happy to provide activity and food recommendations in the Garrison City. Recent travels have brought Shayna to Asheville, West Palm Beach, and Charleston, with Greece on deck for this summer (her first trip abroad, and she’ll take recommendations!).
Shayna is excited to be back on campus working for her alma matter and has been learning the ropes by diving into a busy events season. She is happy to be part of the Paul community and thanks everyone for being so welcoming and supportive over the last two months.
