On October 14, 20 students boarded a bus and headed to cranberry country. First stop was Ocean Spray headquarters where students toured the facilities and got to sample some yummy Ocean Spray products. Among the students attending were members of the AMA/UNH Marketing & Advertising Club, Paul Rutman Fellows and students from COLSA and COLA along with faculty member, Diane Devine and organizer, Emily Broderick, UNH Director of Principal Stewardship.

We then headed to the cranberry bogs whereby we donned waders and headed into the flooded fields of cranberries to try our hands at harvesting. Students learned some key facts about sustainable practices and regenerative farming, not to mention that a third of all harvested cranberries come from Massachusetts. Despite the rain, students had a memorable experience that helped them to understand how sustainability can drive vision and brand purpose.

Special thanks to the Ocean Spray team including Tom Hayes '87, CEO, Lauren DeSantis ’11, Grower Relations Analyst, Katie McCombs ’17, Assistant Brand Activation Manager and Iain Ward '97, Cranberry Grower.
