Jun Li, an associate professor at the University of New Hampshire, said he has discussed the China trade war extensively with students in his international business/management course. While the battle has many negative impacts — including the loss of Chinese markets for U.S. products and the labor pool that China provides to U.S. manufacturers — there are some potential positive outcomes, such as a greater protection of U.S. intellectual property.
"Economics 101 has taught us that the trade war has never been a zero-sum game,” Li said in an email. “Even talking about impacts to U.S. businesses, some will win, and some will lose. It’s essential for the business leaders as well as lawmakers, to think about how the ongoing trade war would impact the local community, and how should the business / or the state to respond, reactively and also proactively, to these uncertainties.” (Unionleader.com, 9/24/19)
