Parker Armstrong '20 is from Exeter, NH and pursuing a major in analytical economics. He's a member of the Fia-Chait Irish Step Dancing Group, the Student Activity Fee Committee (SAFC), the student senate, the Memorial Union admin office, and is a Paul Scholar, Dean's Ambassador, and lover of planes.
During his time at UNH, Parker has (obviously) participated in a lot of clubs and programs, but he's also done a few amazing things. This includes coming in third place in the World Irish Dancing Championships and studying in Washington, D.C., and London, England.
"I chose Paul College because out of all of the colleges and business schools I looked into, Paul was by far the most innovative – the Paul Scholars program, the FIRE program, the Undergraduate Research Conference, the Internship Opportunity Fund, the Dean’s Ambassador’s program. It had all these unparalleled opportunities for ALL students (even freshman, not just seniors!) that no other university could match. And so much support from faculty and staff!
My favorite thing about Paul is probably the versatility of the building. By day it’s an academic powerhouse and by night it’s a gorgeous conference hall or a cozy study space. There’s breakout rooms for small groups and a massive room for lectures. The Great Hall windows connect us business students with nature and remind us that there’s a world outside that we are preparing for.
I really like the Economics Department at Paul. The professors are world-class researchers, and I am beyond privileged to have had the opportunity to learn from them and work with them. The one-on-one support they've given me has helped guide me through so many decisions!
Get involved at UNH as soon as you can. It might feel awkward to go to a club meeting where you don’t know anyone, but just a few meetings later you'll have amazing friends who want to hang out with you, and are interested in similar things as you. It may sound stupid because literally everyone says it –but then again, that's the exact reason to try!"
