The Rines Angel Fund hosted a group of international women entrepreneurs on Oct. 17 at Paul College.
These visitors were invited to the United States under the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Their program, “Women and Entrepreneurship: Small Business - A Multi-Regional Project," was arranged by the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire. The group is in the US from Oc. 5-26.
Rines Angel Fund members participating in the meeting were led by Maddie Vangellow and included Lauren Chance, Julia Fichera, Sofia Menyalkin, Nova Robbins and Rachel Wells. The visiting group featured 10 female CEOs/founders from around the globe (Nepal, India, Venezuela, Brazil, Burundi, Ecuador, Philippines, Liberia, Montenegro, Nigeria).
Discussions included access to capital, how the Rines Fund operates, the importance of helping small innovative businesses and how they can implement some of these ideas back in their home countries. Some of the other objectives of the program included examples of women's entrepreneurial efforts in the United States, strategies for job creation, the role of NGOs in supporting and empowering the development of women-owned businesses, the social, economic, and political factors that influence and encourage the development of private enterprise in the United States and societal barriers facing entrepreneurs, especially women, and best practices in overcoming these restrictions.
