“While it helps with rent and mortgages, it is important to note that it does not replace business profits,” said Daniel Innis, a professor of hospitality management and marketing at the University of New Hampshire and former hotel owner. “Owners may meet current obligations to pay rent, utilities, a mortgage. And they are eligible for unemployment, so that helps. Regardless, it is going to be very hard for some small businesses to survive.”
