Finding My Footing at Paul College

When I first arrived at UNH, I was pretty extroverted – but still hesitant to step too far out of my comfort zone. Paul College quickly became my second home. The breakout rooms, classrooms, and overall atmosphere just felt... right. Plus, being only 50 minutes from my hometown was perfect. Close enough to visit, but far enough to spread my wings.

Freshman year was a whirlwind. I made lifelong friends during orientation (whether they like it or not – they're stuck with me now!). Living in Lord Hall, right by Paul College, I got my first taste of college life. Sure, it wasn't exactly like the movies, but it was an incredible mix of fun and learning.

What I love most about Paul is how it promotes collaboration while still fostering healthy competition. It's the perfect environment for self-discovery and growth. The faculty and staff genuinely care about your success, and there's this awesome "Wildcat spirit" that makes you feel part of something bigger.

Diving into Finance and Economics

I came to UNH knowing I wanted to study Finance. Later, I added Economics as a double major. I realized how well they complement each other, especially when understanding markets. The "Money and Financial Markets" track in Economics has been super helpful in rounding out my finance knowledge!

The professors, career services, and advising office all played a huge role in helping me find my path. The professors here are incredible. They bring real-world experience into the classroom, which makes learning so much more engaging and practical. They encourage independent thought and creative problem-solving – skills that are crucial in the business world.

Getting Involved and Growing

My biggest piece of advice? Get involved early! I waited until junior year to join clubs, and I wish I hadn't. Being part of UNH MAC, Women in Business, and CHAARG has opened so many doors for me. I've networked with industry leaders, developed leadership skills, and traveled to Chicago and New Orleans for conferences. I even stood in a cranberry bog!

These experiences taught me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone. It can be scary at first, but it's so worth it. You meet amazing people, discover new interests, and grow in ways you never expected.

Take advantage of the career fairs and career office! They can help you so much. I've had two awesome internships: one in market research and another at a mutual fund firm in Boston.

Looking Ahead to a Bright Future

As graduation approaches, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead. I'm currently interviewing for positions in wealth management and private banking in Boston. Thanks to my experiences at UNH, I feel well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The skills I've gained here – from financial analysis to leadership and networking – have set me up for success.

Always remember, college is about more than just classes. It's about growing as a person, making connections, and discovering your passions. Study hard, but don't forget to have fun and make memories. Your time here will fly by – make the most of it!
