Dutta Breaks Through in Literary Publishing

Professor Dev Dutta has been writing poetry and studying the craft for more than a decade, drawing inspiration from poets including Rabindranath Tagore, Mary Oliver, W.S. Merwin, Elizabeth Bishop, Billy Collins and Jane Hirshfield.

Over the past year, Dutta began seriously pursuing publication of his poetry and nonfiction in literary journals. It can be a highly competitive process, particularly at leading publications where only a small percentage of submissions are accepted.

This summer, that persistence paid off. Dutta had several pieces accepted for publication, including poetry and a work of flash nonfiction.
