A team of Paul College accounting students has advanced to the Deloitte FanTAXtic National Competition after placing in the top two at the regional level.
The team, consisting of George Cheney, Mikayla Passage, Andrew McGee, Benjamin Niezrecki, and faculty advisor Kelly Root, achieved this impressive milestone in only the second year Paul College has participated in the Deloitte competition.
The interactive competition provides students the chance to work in teams to solve a realistic business case, role-play, and present their solutions to Deloitte leaders—helping them gain valuable insight into the types of experiences and challenges they may face in a tax career. In total, 56 colleges and universities participated in the competition, with 16 teams advancing to nationals.
“The students’ deep understanding of the material, paired with outstanding presentation skills, truly set them apart,” says Root.
The national competition will take place from Jan. 24-26 at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas.
