Paul Funds of Innovation - Call for Proposals
Proposals are due March 25, 2022
We are beginning a new cycle of funding for grants from the Peter T. Paul Fund for Innovation. Please note that due to several major investments in growing our programs, funds for smaller projects will be more limited this year. These grants are awarded to tenure-track and tenured faculty, lecturers with multi-year contracts, or to departments to spur innovations that are aligned with our strategic framework and priorities. Examples from previous grants include funds to jumpstart our work on digital marketing, business analytics, real estate finance, and social franchising. Funds have also been awarded to support innovations in pedagogy, experiential learning, as well as student engagement through clubs, student focused symposia with industry experts, or related activities such as FIRE.
We manage these awards as grants and periodic reporting on progress, outcomes, and impact is required. The grant is available for one year with the potential for renewal. The funding period will begin July 1 unless a special case is made for making the award earlier. Individual grant amounts have ranged from $10,000 to $80,000.
Applicants need to submit the following by March 25, 2022:
1) a 2-3 page document describing your proposed project, its relevance to advancing our strategy and priorities, its relevance to you or your department, your plan for execution, and your desired outcomes;
2) a timeline for execution;
3) a project budget for 2022-23. (Please note that unused funds do not automatically carry over to the following year.)
4) plan for seeking alternative or complementary funds if relevant.
I will do a preliminary review of the proposals and develop recommendations to discuss with Peter Paul. Given the structure of the gift arrangement, President Dean has the final approval.
Timeline:
March 25, 2022: New proposals due by 5:00pm to the Dean’s Office (please send to Deborah Merrill-Sands with a cc to Debbie Hensley).
April 29, 2022: Final decisions on the awards will be made.
May 9, 2022: We will send out letters confirming funding to the grantees.
