From UNH President James Dean:

Dear Members of the UNH Community –

I am writing to share an important update about our COVID-19 protocols; this message is an update from last week’s message.

As we have done from the very beginning of the pandemic, we continue to actively monitor national, state and local data. According to the CDC, seven out of 10 N.H. counties meet its criteria for “substantial or high transmission.” As a result, CDC recommends that everyone, vaccinated or unvaccinated, wear masks indoors in certain situations. Effective immediately, everyone at UNH, at all three campuses, will be required to wear a mask in the following indoor spaces:

  • Classrooms
  • Labs/offices and other indoor spaces where people will be close to one another for more than a few minutes
  • Highly congested spaces and events
  • Elevators when riding with other people

Masks are not required in individual office/lab spaces where you are by yourself. The CDC continues to recommend that unvaccinated people wear a mask at all times in indoor public spaces.  At this time, there is no mask requirement for outdoor spaces nor is there any limitation on gathering size.

On the Durham campus masks are strongly encouraged in places like Hamel Recreation Center, residence halls, the library and the MUB.

The Manchester campus will resume indoor masking for all community members throughout the campus, except when in their offices or alone in other private workspaces.

On the Concord campus masks are strongly encouraged in places like the law library and the Jury Box, except when eating.

We are all in this together. If someone asks you to put on a mask, please be respectful and do so.

Finally, the most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your fellow Wildcats is to get vaccinated and to let us know you are vaccinated. You can upload your vaccine card at the secure and confidential portal.

I look forward to seeing you at the start of the semester and we will continue to share updates as we monitor the data.
