Exeter teen creates social messaging app

People have told Max Miller he could be the next Mark Zuckerberg.

“A lot of people say that to me,” said Miller, 18, of Exeter. “I always say I appreciate the sentiment, but it isn’t all me.”

While Miller came up with the concept of Droppn (initially called Droppit), a new social messaging app, he says the success of the idea was a team effort with fellow University of New Hampshire student Sam Warach ’17 and faculty advisor Ian Grant. Miller developed the app and technology side of the project and Warbach handled the business plan.

Miller and Warach topped the field of 73 entrants during the 2017 Paul J. Holloway Prize Competition at UNH, going home with a prize of $10,000. Miller also won one of two Summer Seed Grants from the Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center which is making it possible for him to spend his summer vacation putting the finishing touches on the Droppn App, which is expected to be available in August for iOS and Android users.
