Global Leader, Enterprise Field Operations
From September 2011 to September 2012, Garrett was Head of Field Operations for the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, where he directed Adobe’s go-to-market initiatives and was tasked with the company’s revenue attainment goals for these three key geographies.
Ilg is a sales veteran in the industry having spent nearly three years as Adobe’s President of Japan before moving to SAP where he served as President of SAP Japan for three years. During his time at SAP, he grew the business in Japan with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and expanding the partner ecosystem. While at Adobe from 2006-2008, Ilg was responsible for leading the company’s expansion into the mobile and enterprise markets through partnerships, strategic alliances, and advancement of its software platform. Prior to SAP and Adobe, Ilg spent six years at BEA Systems where he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific. Prior to BEA, Ilg spent five years with Reuters, a global information company where he served as Vice President of global accounts. Ilg has also held various marketing and sales positions at Dow Jones, Walt Disney, Columbia Pictures and Mitsubishi Electronics.
In conjunction with his professional accomplishments, Ilg is co-founder of a bilingual preschool in Tokyo Japan, wrote a quarterly column in international business topics for the Nikkei Newspaper in Japan, and speaks both native English and Japanese. Ilg holds a bachelor’s degree from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

Linear Retail Properties
Aubrey is Partner and head of Acquisitions at Linear Retail. He joined Linear Retail in 2003 and has overseen the acquisitions of all but one of Linear’s purchases. Prior to joining Linear Retail Properties, Aubrey was Vice President at Win Properties, Inc., where he was responsible for the financing, acquisition, and disposition of commercial real estate investments. At Win Properties, he closed $100 million in acquisitions and $100 million in property financing, asset managed a 425-unit apartment portfolio in New York City, and oversaw the corporate risk management program. Previously, he was an Asset Manager at AEW Capital Management and a Real Estate Analyst for Capital Management Resources, a joint venture between AEW Capital Management and Secured Capital.
Aubrey holds an M.S. in Real Estate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Additionally, he has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and a certificate in Real Estate Finance from Boston University.
Aubrey enjoys spending his free time with his wife and their three children. He likes to run (slowly), having completed three marathons to benefit Lance Armstrong Foundation, Fred’s Team at Sloan Kettering Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Piping Rock Partners
Christopher Germain is the Founder and President of Piping Rock Partners Inc., a San Francisco-based real estate investment and management firm focused on multi-family housing. Mr. Germain has over 20 years of experience in banking, capital markets and real estate, and he has completed equity and debt private placements for almost $1 billion of office, retail, industrial and multi-family real estate projects.
Prior to forming Piping Rock Partners in 2006, he was an Executive Director in the Structured Products Group at CIBC World Markets. In this capacity, Chris led transaction teams responsible for the origination and syndication of $3.9 billion in domestic and cross-border tax and asset-based structured financings. Previously, he was associated with Citicorp Securities, based in New York and London.
Chris received a B.A. in History from the University of New Hampshire.
Cathartes Private Investments
Jeff has been a principal at Cathartes Investments since 1996. Since that time, he has directed acquisitions, dispositions, development and management for over 45 properties totaling more than $600 million in asset value.Prior to joining Cathartes, Jeff directed leasing activities for the Flatley Company in Boston and Southern New Hampshire.
Jeff earned his BA in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and his MBA from Northeastern University. He also holds an MS in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jeff continues to be involved at MIT, where he has been a Student Project Advisor to the Center for Real Estate's "Managing the Real Estate Company" course. Jeff is a member of ULI and a past chairman of the Alumni Association of MIT's Center for Real Estate. Jeff has also been a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Team and participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge. He was also granted a Life Saving Award by the Humane Society of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Katherine Williams Kane
Founder and CEO
The Maestro Fund
Ms. Kane is founder and CEO of The Maestro Fund, a private equity real estate fund that takes institutional and high net worth investors into commercial real estate projects on the East Coast. The fund structure is direct, transparent, and relatively unique for the co-investment aspects that provide for alignment of interests between the investors and the Fund Manager(s). The Fund Manager is personally invested in each and every property "alongside" (i.e., on par with) the investors who are high net worth individuals, retirement accounts and pension fund investors. Investments tend to be located in niche markets and are multi-tenanted office, industrial, and retail properties with long-term cash flow streams from institutional grade tenants.
Ms. Kane is also President of Maestro Consulting, through which she runs the State of New Hampshire’s New Market Tax Credit Program. In the last few years, she has allocated $65 million in NMTCs to commercial real estate and energy projects in New Hampshire, attracting more than $250 million of additional investment from out-of-state CDEs, investors and lenders to those projects.
Finally, Ms. Kane provides exclusive commercial tenant and buyer representation to select commercial clients via her firm ReloLogic.
Specialties include national and international real estate investment analysis, commercial development expertise, negotiation tactics for corporate relocation as well as expertise and connections in the Federal Tax Credit marketplace.
Ms. Kane is a board member of the New England Chapter of SIOR as well as a designee. She has held a CCIM designation since 1999, which represents a level of competency attained by only 10% of commercial brokers in the country.
As a current Trustee of Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Katherine chairs their Investment Committee and co-chairs their Properties Committee. She is a 1999 graduate of Leadership NH, a past Chairman of the Board of the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, and a decade-long trustee of the State of NH Business Finance Authority.
Ms. Kane graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1998. In 2009, she was a graduate of Class VIII of Harvard University’s Advanced Management in Development of Real Estate Program (AMDP) and,in 2005, attended MIT’s School of Real Estate for Portfolio Management.
Senior Vice President
Mr. Karl has been involved in media and technology-oriented businesses throughout his twenty year career in business. In his current role as SVP of Enterprise Sales for MediaMath, the leading advertising technology platform (RTB enabled DSP/DMP Media Platform), Karl is responsible for leading a team of Enterprise level salespeople and ad tech consultants to implement a SAAS solution for media planning and buying across all digital media channels (Display, Social, Mobile, Video). MediaMath's platform is leveraged by 70% of the Fortune 200 companies whether through a SAAS integration or via an agency holding company master service agreement. Forrester gave the company a #1 ranking in a 12/1/11 in depth study of the ad tech industry.
Prior to his role with MediaMath Karl led sales teams, served as a business unit GM, or held business development roles at Yahoo!, MTV Networks, and Alloy Media. He has developed marketing solutions and custom products across all media types (Broadcast, Print, Indoor/Outdoor, Digital, Mobile) while working with marketers like Procter and Gamble, Kraft, Pepsi, IBM, Ford, GM, and Verizon.
From 1998 to 2002, Karl followed his entrepreneurial passion and co-founded a company, called CarePackages.com, with a business model designed to build an online sales channel for consumer packaged goods with a secondary revenue stream as an application service provider for collegiate fundraising. Karl participated and won a nationally broadcast Venture Capital competition called Money Hunt, which aired on the PBS channel and CNBC. The business was also featured on CNNfn, NBC, and in the Wall Street Journal and Kiplinger Personal Finance. After raising private and institutional financing for CarePackages.com business he led his team to a successful exit with Student Advantage. Additionally, Karl has co-founded eSaludo.com, a Hispanic digital greeting card application which also received private and institutional financing.
Marjorie Madfis Interactive Marketing
Marjorie Madfis has been a leader and innovator in digital and social marketing at IBM for 17 years. With a background in direct marketing, Marjorie brought those principles and expertise to IBM when she joined in 1995 to help start up Interactive Direct Marketing. Since then she has led the strategy and development of many of the websites within the IBM domain, and has integrated social into the marketing mission.
Marjorie initiated research-based customer-centric web design to change visitor attitudes and behavior and drive lead generation. As worldwide web strategist for IBM Software, Marjorie redesigned the IBM Software website and developed a content marketing approach, then led the deployment in 60 countries in local languages with local content. Over the past few years she focused on incorporating conversations of communities and experts into the web experience. Marjorie was the social media lead for key global customer events engaging both attendees and virtual participants.
Prior to joining IBM, Marjorie provided direct marketing consulting to Ogilvy & Mather and IBM, and to leading publishers including Hearst, TV Guide, and Time Inc. Previously, she held positions as Director of Marketing at Doubleday Book Clubs and Account Supervisor at Wunderman Worldwide. Marjorie holds an MBA from Boston University, and a Bachelors of Science in Community Development from University of New Hampshire.
Marjorie lives in White Plains, New York, with her husband and daughter. As a parent of a child with Autism, she is an advocate, blogger, fundraiser, advisor, and consultant on Autism.

SVP & Director of Digital Strategy
Mike Proulx is a Senior Vice President and the Director of Digital Strategy at Hill Holliday, a renowned advertising agency based in Boston, where he leads a team with a focus on cross-channel integration, emerging, and social media.
Mike has spent the last 18 years working at various interactive, high-tech, and new media companies on the agency-side, client-side, and as an entrepreneur. A frequent speaker at industry events, Mike has been widely featured in the press including The New York Times, Fast Company, TV Guide, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Mashable, BuzzFeed, and NPR.
Mike’s passion for Web + TV convergence led him to conceive, produce, direct, and co-host the TVnext Summit which took place in early 2011, 2012, and 2013. He is the co-author of the book Social TV, published by Wiley in February of 2012 and is also the host of the social TV web series, The Pulse on Lost Remote.
Mike graduated UNH in 1995 with a BS in Business Administration, magna cum laude, and holds a Masters degree in Computer Information Systems from Bentley University.
