Graduate Application Requirements

We are accepting applications for the 2018/2019 academic year.

The crucial requirement for admission is a history that demonstrates the applicant has the potential and desire for graduate study. All students must have completed a four year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) before beginning the program. In the portfolio approach to admission, the following factors are all considered:

International Students who live outside the US must submit a pre-application prior to submitting a formal application.

Academic Credentials

Copies of transcripts from every institution you have attended must be submitted with your application. Official transcripts should remain in their sealed envelopes.

GMAT Scores*

The GMAT is required for admission to the MS Accounting program. To register for the exam or for more tools to help you prepare for the exam, please visit the Graduate Management Admissions Council homepage.

*If current UNH undergraduate accounting options students or accounting undergraduate students from other AACSB accredited English speaking business schools meet one of the following conditions below, please e-mail requesting a GMAT waiver:

Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher,


Accounting Option GPA of 3.5 or higher


Three letters of recommendation must be submitted with your application. References should detail your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for academic and managerial success. Personal references are not permitted.

Essay Questions

The essay questions are a crucial component of your application to the Whittemore Graduate School. Through your answers to the specific essay questions you will offer the admissions committee members insight into your reasons for pursuing a graduate accounting degree. It is important that we are able to accommodate your academic needs and that your interests are in line with our curriculum objectives. The recommended essay length is one page per question.

Work History

Work experience is recommended for applicants considering the MS Accounting programs, but not required.


Scholarships are available for students. To be considered, please e-mail a one page letter explaining your qualifications, desire and/or need for a scholarship to by November 15th

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

The minimum TOEFL requirement is 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or an 80 on the Online test. International applicants are required to submit official TOEFL scores less than two years old. While we have established minimum scores for admissions purposes, competitive applicants seeking financial aid from the Whittemore Graduate School, have on average, had TOEFL scores of 650 on the paper-based test and 280 on the computer-based test.


Spring Semester Applications

Application to the MS Accounting program will be considered on a case-by-case basis due to availability of space.

Application Deadline has been extended to October 15th. 

Fall Semester Applications

Early Admission (Paul College Students Only)*
Application Deadline is November 15th

Admissions Notification is December 15th.
* Early Admission – For Paul College undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher. Early Admission allows a senior to take one MSA graduate level course in the spring. The graduate course cannot be used towards the undergraduate degree. Please select Spring Early Admission on the online application and submit by November 15.

Early Application (Open to All)**
Application Deadline is November 15th.

Admission Notification is December 15th.

**Early Application – This option is open to all applicants. UNH applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or UNH Accounting majors with a minimum cumulative Accounting GPA of 3.5, may request a waiver of the GMAT. Please select Fall and regular admission on the online application.

Applications received after the deadlines will be considered on a space-available basis.

As admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis, it is in an applicant's best interest to apply early.
