Case Study #6: Leadership and Supervisory Skills

Previous Case Study          Next Case Study

Organizational Challenge:

A small manufacturer of precision wire and cables had a need to build capabilities in performance management, team leadership, conflict management, change leadership, and other supervisory and leadership skills. There were not a lot of resources available for formal training, so supervisors, often promoted because of their technical abilities, were struggling with their role as frontline leaders.

The Solution:

The Paul College of Business worked with the company to secure grant money, and designed and delivered a very cost-effective 4 day leadership program.

The Results:

Evaluations were excellent, and participants have reported in follow-up interviews that they are much more confident and capable leaders. The only suggestion for improvement was: "more of our managers (at all levels) need to go through this."

Phase two is in development.
