Daniel E. Innis, Dean of the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, joined UNH in 2007. Prior to his tenure at UNH he served as the dean of the College of Business, Public Policy and Health at the University of Maine. He has also served Ohio University as the Associate Dean of the College of Business, Chair of the Marketing Department, and as a professor in the Marketing Department. After earning a B.B.A. from Ohio University in 1985 and an M.B.A. in marketing from Miami University in 1986, he spent two years with the Warner-Lambert Company in Morris Plains, NJ as an assistant operations analyst in the corporate distribution division. Dean Innis earned his Ph.D. in marketing and logistics with a minor in consumer behavior from The Ohio State University in 1991. He is also the co-owner of the Ale House Inn in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Dean Innis is co-author of a book, Strategic Planning for Logistics, and his papers have appeared in the Journal of Business Logistics, the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, the Journal of Psychology and Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Research, and Advances in Consumer Research. He has made numerous presentations at professional conferences and meetings, including the Council of Logistics Management, the North American Logistics Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, the American Marketing Association, the Association for Consumer Research, and the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Dean Innis won the Council of Logistics Management Doctoral Dissertation Award in 1992 and he has received the Ackerman Award for Best Paper in Logistics and Transportation, as well as the DeLozier Award from the Academy of Marketing Science. He has consulted with several Fortune 500 firms in the areas of distribution, channel management, and buyer behavior. He has received recognition for teaching excellence and has taught business marketing in three Egyptian Management Seminars and four Brazilian Executive Development Seminars. In addition, he has taught in the Ohio University Corporate MBA program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, served as an expert witness in three trademark infringement cases, and as a member of the Council of Logistics Management Education Strategies Committee. He also received the Faculty/Staff Contribution Award from Ohio University in 2002.
Dean Innis serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing and the Journal of Education for Business. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Journal of Business Logistics.
Dean Innis is an active consultant in the areas of the importance of customer service performance to a firm's overall performance, customer sensitivity across various managerial levels in an organization, logistics strategic planning, and the impact of quick response logistics on channel member behavior and attitudes. The integration of logistics and marketing is the focus of related consulting and research activity.
Dean Innis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Association for Consumer Research, the Council of Logistics Management, Alpha Kappa Psi, and the American Psychological Association.
